The First Baptist Church of Bristol will be celebrating their 200th anniversary of the building and 225th of the congregation! We invite the community to join us. On Saturday the 3rd there will be historical tours of the church followed by activities in the park with a free picnic, old fashioned games, face painting and much more. On Sunday Aug. 4th there’s a special celebration tent service at 10 a.m. On Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Jonathan Kroll, son of Laurie and Michael Kroll, who grew up in the First Baptist Church of Bristol will be playing the Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (The Dance in the Village Inn) By Franz Liszt.. This will be followed by the Addison County Gospel Choir.
Jonathan moved with his family to Fishers, Indiana in the summer of 2013 after 9th grade. He is currently a student at Indiana Wesleyan University where he is a senior, majoring in Piano Performance. Jonathan has had many teachers who contributed to his growth as a pianist, beginning with Jennifer Allred of Bristol and Diana Fanning in Middlebury. In high school, Jon studied with Sylvia Patterson-Scott, the principal keyboardist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and her husband Beverly Scott. He now studies with Dr. Phoenix Park-Kim at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Jonathan was the 2018 winner of the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto competition, and performed with them as soloist last fall. He is also the 2019 winner of the Charles Joray Collegiate Piano Competition, and the Hoosier Indiana State Fair Competition. He gave his Junior recital in March, has performed at the Indiana State Fair, and will be performing at the Hoosier winner’s recital in September at University of Indianapolis.
